With a romantic history that matches its arts and crafts architecture, Erehwon Retreat Cottage welcomes you to enjoy a quiet and secluded getaway in Tampa.
This hidden gem started out life as a Model T garage and through the years has been everything from a mother-in-law cottage during the Depression to modern-day full-time living quarters. Like your own personal dollhouse, the cottage is nestled under an old growth canopy with an adorable, welcoming front porch adorned with rockers, perfect for watching the world go by.
In 2010, the Erehwon Retreat cottage underwent major renovations, transforming it into a tranquil and cozy place to relax and unwind. From the minute you step inside the front door, you won’t stop “oohing” and “ahhing” over all the arts and crafts touches.
Head into the bead board living room for some down time, where you can kick back on the couch in front of the TV. The cottage’s DVD collection rivals a video rental store, catering to all movie night tastes! If you prefer quieter entertainment, curl up in the leather chair with a good book or one of the many American Bungalow magazines found around the cottage.
When it comes time for some sustenance, the comfy kitchen includes everything you’ll need to cook up breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. When you raid the fridge for snacks you won’t go hungry; we stocked it with fresh Florida orange juice, milk, coffee and plenty of condiments and cooking necessities.
As the sun sets and the weather cools, head out to the deck, shared with the adjacent bungalow, and enjoy time with new friends.
At bedtime, head to the back of the cottage where you’ll find the bedroom complete with arts and craft décor, queen bed and luxury bedding; all you need a restful night’s sleep. On your way to bed, stop by the hallway storage closet and wrap yourself in a fluffy white robe and matching slippers. Even the bathroom oozes charm with pedestal sink, walk-in shower, luxury towels, custom-made tea olive soap and high-end bath products.

Perfect spot for a “workcation.”

Perfect spot for a “workcation.” Awesome neighborhood and easy access to the highway. Henry takes great care of the place and is very responsive. Thanks again.

The cottage and neighborhood are beyond charming! Parking is easy but walking to great restaurants – and getting around Tampa – are super easy. Henry was so helpful and provided great hospitality! Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing experience
Alexandra & Walter – November 2020
Henry has put he’s heart and soul into his cottage… The little details remind you of a sailing boat… The food provided…. The insight gained from chatting with him… Absolutely amazing experience… Was a little hesitant at first cause we’re used to hotels… But Erehwon Retreat gave us a glance at what life as Floridians will be like… And a huge part was thanks to Henry’s guidance and honesty. Don’t think twice when booking here, you’ll enjoy every second spent here. Will always remember our stay at your property… Came in as strangers left as friends.. we’ll see you soon!
Quite spacious and extremely comfortable
Crisley – September 2020
This place was amazing, and my boyfriend and I miss it! 5 out of 5 stars! For two people, it is quite spacious and extremely comfortable, with a bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen, and living room area. Each room had everything we needed, even including a French press in the kitchen for making coffee, and the host, Henry, came by frequently to make sure our paper supplies – ie, toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, paper towels, etc – were still stocked. He also came by once a week to collect towels, sheets, and other linens that needed laundering and was all in all an extremely attentive host. He also paid attention to the needs that the pandemic would present, such as providing a UV sanitizer for the box that held the keys in the living room and for the bedroom as well. Each room was neat, clean, and well-decorated, with lots of well-thought out details like a 1920’s vintage theme, lots of DVDs in alphabetical order for folks’ enjoyment, a power bank with chargers for a variety of phones, and more. I spent many wonderful mornings sitting in the living room looking out of three walls of windows and out into the beautiful foliage on the property, watching the rain glance off of the many leaves and flowers. The whole property itself is basically a garden, one that exemplified lots of care and thought on the part of the host and which we had many lovely conversations about. Outside of sheer comfort, the area’s location is also very central to many parts of Tampa, as it is so close to Florida Ave, and important details such as parking, Wifi, etc., were no issue. I would highly recommend this place for a stay for anyone visiting Tampa, and I’m very thankful to Henry for the lovely stay that we’ve had. The next time we visit Tampa, this will be the first place we think of!
