Meet Erehwon Retreat Owner – Judy Biesen
Judith is a passionate traveler and experienced host who loves to share her knowledge of the world with others. Born and raised in Bremen, Germany, Judith’s wanderlust began at an early age when she would spend hours studying the maps of obscure places and memorizing their names as she dreamed of visiting them one day.
After graduating from high school, Judith embarked on a journey to the United States where she worked as an au pair in Connecticut and Texas. Despite initial plans to return to Germany to pursue higher education, Judith fell in love with the country and the opportunities it had to offer and decided to attend college in the US. Over the next 17 years, her pursuits led her to live in Connecticut, California, Florida (Miami), Indiana, and New Mexico and experience each state’s unique qualities and people.
After traveling all over the US and abroad, Judith decided to turn her love for travel into a business and venture into short-term rentals. She transformed her first home in South Bend, IN, into a full-time vacation rental, targeting visitors of the legendary football games at the University of Notre Dame.
These days, Judith feels lucky to call Florida her home – for the second time. She took over Erehwon Retreat from its prior owner, Henry Young, after his retirement from the vacation rental business in February 2023. She is excited to embrace Henry’s vision to provide a one-of-a-kind 1920s Craftsman experience to guests at Erehwon Retreat.
With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to providing exceptional service, Judith takes great pride in ensuring that her guests have a memorable stay. From personalized recommendations for local activities and restaurants to arranging for special touches like fresh flowers or fruit baskets, Judith goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome and cared for.
